Dates: 22nd - 24th Feb

Do you have a child in year 6 or above who is interested in art, may be thinking of taking an art scholarship or GCSE art?.....

Sara Habgood is running painting classes this coming half term. They will run for three hours on successive days. You can book for a single day class, or as many as you like....All materials will be provided. Painting will be oil on canvas, so old clothes or an apron/old shirt should be worn to protect good clothing.

Each session will run for three hours, and each day will be different.  A canvas will be produced by the end of each three hour session.

The cost per session 10am – 1pm will be £40. Sara is planning to run workshops on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of half term week, depending on demand.

She will be setting up a still life and will guide and help students from initial sketching through to painting. There will be freedom to interpret the subject in an individual way. This is quite a challenge, but it will take place in a relaxed environment, and a mature approach should deliver some fantastic results.

The class would be ideal for anyone taking, or thinking of taking art GSSE and could also be considered by students entering for art scholarship exams.

Please let Sara know if you would like any further information or if you would like to make a firm booking.

Everyone is welcome so please pass details of these courses onto friends who have teenagers who might be interested in attending... ...

About Sara

Sara Habgood BA (Hons) Fine Art and History of Art, Goldsmiths’College, University of London

Sara studied at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London (BA Hons Fine Art and History of Art).
Her first solo exhibition was at the Chelsea Gallery and resulted in a feature in The Guardian newspaper. Subsequently, she held solo and group exhibitions in Bath (Rope Store Gallery), Brighton, London (Chelsea Gallery), Tunbridge Wells, Spain and Italy. Sara's work is held in private collections in the UK and overseas (Canada, Italy, South Africa, Spain and the USA).

Sara's recent painting marks a departure from her previously more figurative work. This new body of work reflects her love of bold, positive, exuberant and decorative images. The pieces are strong and graphic and use different techniques and textures to explore the process of representation. They aim to elicite a positive sensory interaction with the viewer.

Sara has recently been developing the style known as “pintura matérica”, in which non artistic materials are incorporated into the paintings, media such silver leaf, glitter, encaustic and plaster relief.

Some of the work is calm and contemplative, other pieces are more playful.....
