THE WORLD OF PLANTS

Botanical art bursts into bloom in April when the Society of Botanical Artists holds their Annual London Open Exhibition between Friday 8 April and Sunday 17 April 2011.

The season is a short one but a wonderful display is always guaranteed.

Botanical art is a centuries-old traditional art form, enjoying a wonderful renaissance at a time when so much art appears to celebrate ugliness and we are fortunate in being able to help keep it alive and regenerated. This showcase exhibition will feature some 700 selected works, embracing a wide variety of styles and technique. Wander around a diverse range of flower and plant images. Admire the work of Members and non members all eager to delight you with their skills. Enjoy the perennial favourites: watercolour, pastel and oil but also the increasingly popular coloured pencil and pencil work.
Members include many winners of prestigious awards not least of which are the Royal Horticultural Society’s Gold medals. Members’ paintings are exhibited in institutions worldwide and are held in many private collections.

The title of the exhibition for 2011 is The World of Plants and visitors can observe how the various artists have used their talents to portray not only the many beautiful floral specimens but vegetables too. All work is for sale including prints and cards.
Only the scent will be missing!
