Rachel Whiteread at the Whitechapel Gallery

Artist Rachel Whiteread, who won the Turner Prize in 1993 after creating 'House', a cast of the interior of an East End terrace, and who filled the Tate Turbine Hall in in 2005-6 with 'Embankment', a maze-like arrangement of 14,000 white casts of the inside of different cardboard boxes, has created a new, permanent work of art for the façade of the Whitechapel Gallery's main entrance.

The work takes inspiration from the decorative 'tree of life' motif which is part of the existing architecture.
